Earthquakes

Southern California Earthquake Center Logo Southern California Earthquake Center

An excellent place to get information on recent earthquakes in California. The Index Map of Recent Earthquakes in California provides up to the minute information. When the 7.1 earthquake hit Southern California in 1999, called the Hector Mine Mainshock, I check the index map and knew within three minutes where the quake hit and its magnitude. Within twenty-four hours there was over a thousand earthquakes. Oh...by the way, before you even think about telling me it's earthquake weather, please read Earthquake Myths.

The U.S. Geological Survey maintains the National Earthquake Information Center (NEIC) where you can find the Current World Seismicity and Current Seismicity for the United States
